I would encourage anyone to get involved in groups like these however you only get out of it what you put into it. I've already made friends with some great people and hopefully we'll all learn from each other as time goes on. The only downside to groups like this however and friending people is that sometimes people take things the wrong way as I witnessed recently with Matt.
Matt had re-posted an image he had and personally I thought it was hilarious however someone didn't see the funny side and felt the need to register a complaint with the powers that be at Facebook which in turn lead to the image being removed and his account being locked down for a period. I'm not sure why anyone would feel the need to protest in such a manner over something so facetious but you live and learn I suppose. The end result of the whole matter also lead to him reducing his friends list and I can see why.
Thanks to one of the challenges in the group I ended up taking my first self portrait. Thankfully I'm married so I'm not out to impress anybody and I'm certainly no Brad Pitt so getting in front of the camera as opposed to behind it was a challenge in itself! The best part about this was that I actually ended up enjoying it. At one stage I even had the camera in the fridge and I was taking wide angle shots of me raiding it.....I kid you not, mind you I'm usually eating most of the time anyway(fast metabolism). I even ended up using my final image as my new FB profile, for those that missed it here's the end result and yes I didn't gel my hair.
