"On this site, a powerful engine will be built. An engine that will someday help us to travel a hundred times faster than we can today. Imagine it. Thousands of inhabited planets at our fingertips. And we'll be able to explore those strange, new worlds. And seek out new life and new civilizations. This engine will let us go boldly where no man has gone before"
It always felt to me like you're being cheated somewhat with Facebook with regards to your sharing experience as Friends Only doesn't really mean that as you can end up with likes from the strangest of people and places and you sometimes wonder how on earth that happened. For me there tended to be a lot of one way traffic as well and the feed these days seems to be polluted with adverts and recommendations as well as the same posts appearing over and over again.
I know it's never going to be an exact science either as I'm sure every platform has it's own T's+C's and there will always be a get out clause somewhere because lets be honest who really reads all the paragraphs or rules and regulations but for me G+ is in a league of it's own.
Well, as some may already know, I've been active on Twitter for quite a while now and I've made some great social media friends/contacts on there and I'll hopefully continue to do so. Very recently though I began to pick up the pieces on Google plus again and I'm so glad I did because the experience has gone from good to brilliant in a very short space of time. I'm fairly confident that more people will start making the move onto that platform as well if you haven't already done so and if not this year then maybe it's one for 2014!
I know of one good friend that wasn't convinced initially but recently he began dipping his toe in the water so to speak and I'd say he's even done a couple of laps now and reckon he's also enjoying it as much as me. In addition to that there's a whole other bunch of pals from #BreakfastClub on Twitter which was growing and growing but the biggest problem we began to find was that once we had said hello to everyone that the conversation was finished before it started however that's been remedied since then thanks to the Google communities and the fact that we can have a much more wholesome conversation.
Remember, it's mostly about having a fun.....life's serious enough.
All the best,
Nick.
